How do I begin?
Q. Is Dance Louisville the best studio for me?
A. It's hard for us to say we are the best, but we invite you to take a look at our record. We have a group of friendly well-trained staff that are active in all areas of the local dance community. If nothing else, let us be your guide to dancing in Louisville.
Q. Will I need a partner to take dance lessons?
A. No, most students in our group classes are primarily single. Also, we rotate partners to give you a chance to dance with and meet new dancers. In private lessons you can dance with your instructor.
Q. What should I wear for my dance lessons?
A. Dress to dance all night! Dress casually and for comfort! If you have dance shoes, bring them; otherwise leather-soled shoes will do. During our dance parties, you'll find people wearing everything from jeans and dress shirts to sequins and feathers.
Q. What are my payment options?
A: Dance Louisville is a no-contract, pay-as-you-go dance studios. I think you will find us to be a great value for your dollar.
Q. How much of a time commitment is there?
A: We teach 7 days a week so if you're looking for a studio to fit your schedule, look no further! Of course, as with any new activity the more time you spend on it the faster you'll see results; so think about how much time you'd like to spend on dancing and set your expectations accordingly.
In the beginning, we encourage our students to come in optimally 1-3 times a week (lessons and practice time). However, if this doesn't work we'll work around your schedule.
We suggest people start with a mixture of private lessons, group classes and dance parties. If you develop good habits at the start, you'll save time and money later. We pride ourselves on the fact that we offer group classes with private lesson quality, so if you only take group classes it will take longer, and you won't receive as much individual attention, but you will still be receiving quality instruction, just at a slower pace.
Q. What is the age range of dancers?
A. Our students range in age from 10 or 11 years old to dancers in their 70's.
Q. How long will it take to learn a dance?
A. With only one dance lesson per week most dancers can learn to socially dance 1-2 dances in a month. With group and private dance lessons you will progress much faster. As with anything, what you get out depends on what you put in.
Q. You keep suggesting we compare your pricing with other studios, What are your fees?
A: We feel we offer the best value for premium instruction around and we want to tell everyone! Dance Louisville is about dancing and fun, not pressure. So before you step foot across our door you'll know just how much everything costs no initiation or hidden fees!
Q. How do I begin?
A: Shop around, then call (502) 377-4859 to make an appointment for an introductory private lesson. It's the best way to check out our 2,400 square ft. studio space, chat with our teachers and get a feel for our methods.
